When considering what kind of glove to purchase for sailing, you must
take their different features into consideration. Those features really make a
difference!
Genuine leather gloves last longer than those with fabric panels between
the fingers, but they tend to shrink after being wet and harden when dry.
Synthetic leather has the appearance and feel of leather, and often may
actually be tougher. The suede-like surface gives you an excellent grip.
"Short finger" or "long finger"?
Short-finger gloves offer the best dexterity for tying knots, while
long-finger gloves give extra protection for those who have uncleated mainsheets
and want added protection.
Construction
Racers and blue-water sailors need better-reinforced gloves than day
sailors, and winter sailors need warmer gloves than traditional sailing gloves.
